Friday Night Social is now sponsored by

P&H Kayaks and Kelly Blades!

We are happy to announce that Kelly Blades of P&H Kayaks will now be sponsoring the Friday night social at LOL!  What does that mean?  With Kelly that could be anything!  Stand up comedy? Clown Act? Martial Arts?  You'll just have to show up to find out!

GUEST COACH- Suzanne Hutchinson!

Suz¹s love of paddling has taken her to Scotland, Wales, and England, with the playground of the Maine coast as her home waters. She has been paddling recreationally for 10 years. In her early years, her boat lived atop her car because it never would have made the turn to get in the elevator of her condo. She is passionate about kayaking; loves to introduce new paddlers to the sport, and is dedicated to teaching with her cold water workshops. Suz is a Registered Maine Guide, a BCU level 1 instructor and 5* aspirant. She is the New England Kokatat Rep and a Team Paddler for P & H. When not traveling the roads of New England, she lives with her husband Werner, three cats, and a barn full of boats!  Welcome Suzanne!

                           Presents !

What happens in Houghton stays in Houghton, when Vegas comes to town!  We’ll bring all the glitz and glamour and sin, of the world’s most famous party to Ladies of the Lake.  Appropriate attire is a must, so whether you come as a show girl, lounge singer, mafia muscle, degenerate gambler or a Chip and Dale’s dancer, come dressed to the nines.  We’ll be set up for you to double down, hit an ace on the river or roll box cars right up until Suzanne Hutchinson, our Saturday evening guest presenter, steps up to the microphone.  From there we’ll be dancing the night away in the Las Vegas Desert, Ladies of the Lake style.

IS YOUR SPOUSE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO?

We offer a Men's camp seperate from the symposium!  Now your spouse can paddle during the day and join you at the slideshow in the evening!   Danny Mongno will guest instruct at Man's Camp!

MEN'S CAMP

Forward Stroke.

It sounds silly but we all need help with the most basic movement in kayaking, going forward.  Join us as we break down the proper body motions needed to drive your kayak more efficiently.

Open Water Adventure.

Let's go for a paddle.  Well come on it can't be that easy now!  As we get out on the water we will set up scenarios that will challenge out group management skills.  You don't need advanced conditions to think like an advanced leader, so bring an open mind.  ( Rescue kit and clothing for extended exposure and immersion is suggested.)

Rescues- A New Look.

Throw out everything you know about rescues and let's just have some fun.  What works for one person does not always work for the other, so let's learn from each other and add some new rescue skills.  Bracing and rolling will be touched on as well as a long look at group management and what rescues to use before we ever have a swimmer.

Men's Camp Coach Danny Mongno

Werner Paddles is more than a career to Danny Mongno; it offers a lifestyle and a family.  Traveling in his house on wheels and paddling most every day in the US and around the world has allowed him to add a constant flow of new thinking to over 19 years of experience.  Coaching from event to event it is helping paddlers develop a love for the sport that keeps him coming back year in and year out.  Danny is 35 years old and resides in the mountains of Asheville NC.  Keep an eye out for him in your town on the running trail, white water take out, lake, local surf spot or any where else the paddlers gather.  Bar stools not excluded.
